Founded at the University of Maryland

Dr. R.D. Vispute, following pioneering research in the UMD Physics department, launches Blue Wave Semiconductors with a singular goal: build precision thin film deposition tools for researchers who need more than what the commercial market offers.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory: Nanodiamond Foils

A landmark achievement: Blue Wave fabricates 1-micron-thick nanodiamond foils for the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The work is featured in Vacuum Technology & Coating and cements Blue Wave's place at the forefront of CVD diamond science.

DEAR-MPCVD Unveiled at MRS Boston

Blue Wave presents the Diamond Exploratory and Applied Research Microwave Plasma CVD system at the Fall MRS Meeting. Designed for quantum research, doped epilayers, and advanced diamond electronics, the DEAR-MPCVD represents a decade of system design refinement and opens a new chapter in CVD diamond R&D tooling.
